Three fun and cheap tips to DIY your own Christmas crackers
CHRISTMAS dinner is never complete without crackers to pull with family and friends.
Cheap ones can be a bit naff but luxury packs are often too pricey.
The solution can be to make your own . . .
SNAPPY THINKING: You can buy crackers that you then assemble and fill yourself. A pack of six is just 75p at Wilko and includes jokes and party hats.
There are also colour-in crackers that you make, which are great for kids. A six-pack costs £5.50 from Amazon.co.uk.
If you don’t want to put the cracker together yourself, John Lewis offers a box of six “fill your own” ones for £8.
They include hats and mottos, and gifts are easy to add.
EASY GIFTS: Buying your own little gifts to insert should hopefully mean no one will receive useless items that will never be used.
Mini-chocolates will be a welcome treat for most. Maybe pop in a few Ferrero Rochers.
Adults may also appreciate a miniature bottle of Baileys, which is £1.79 from thebottleclub.com.
Or a £1 lottery scratch card can be a fun addition.
For children, try adding a fidget toy, which should help keep them occupied while at the table.
A box of eight is down from £14 to £7 at The Entertainer. Stickers are another good option.
MAKE IT PERSONAL: If you want to make your crackers more personalised, you’ll need to mark each so that you know who it’s for.
Then make sure people sit in the right places at the table.
For a beauty lover, you could add a lip balm or nail varnish. For a golf enthusiast, try a few tees.
A pack of seeds would work well for gardeners.
Photo keyrings are also a lovely touch. A pack of ten blanks is £3 from Hobbycraft, then you simply add your own pictures.
