The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond Wholeheartedly Embraces Grandma Life in the Most Precious Birth Announcement

It’s official, ladies and gents: Ree Drummond is a grandmother! Because, yes, her daughter Alex — who fans saw grow up on Food Network’s The Pioneer Woman — is now a mom. And don’t worry, Drummond’s heartwarming announcement on The Pioneer Woman website makes it clear she’s already got this grandma thing down pat.

“My heart is exploding with happiness, so I couldn’t wait to share the news with you that Alex and Mauricio’s baby girl, Sofia, was born early this morning!” Drummond wrote. “My daughter just had a daughter. I’m honestly still trying to wrap my head (and heart) around it all.”

That precious message, accompanied by her heart that’s ready to burst, makes her pretty much the definition of a doting “grandma.”

And speaking of definitions …

Drummond drove that point home further when she said little Sofia Marie Scott — who Alex shares with husband Mauricio Scott — is “perfect.”

“I’m saying that with as much objectivity as I can. But I’m not kidding … she is perfect,” Drummond gushed, sounding exactly like every adoring grandparent. “Like, if you looked up ‘perfect’ in Miriam Webster, it would reference Sofia Scott, and maybe even show a photo of her.”

The cooking and lifestyle expert shared beautiful photos of the newborn with her family, and we were especially touched by the black-and-white photo of Alex holding Sofia. The new mom has tears in the corner of her eyes, and Mauricio sweetly kisses her forehead.

“It was so wonderful to see how much they love and support each other,” Drummond said of the couple. “Mauricio attended to Alex’s every need, to the point that the rest of us questioned if we even needed to be there. ???? What a gift to [my husband] Ladd and me, for Alex to have a partner in life who demonstrates his love through such clear action.”

So not only is Drummond a loving new grandma — she’s also a loving and appreciative mother-in-law.

Of course, Drummond had to share the news on other platforms too. (What grandma could keep this message contained?!) She also posted a sweet photo of her and her husband holding Sofia on Instagram. “Our first baby had her first baby. ❤️ Thank you Lord, we will never be the same.”

In her own announcement, Alex shared that sentiment. “She’s here ????️????,” she captioned a carousel on Instagram. ” … We are so in love and forever changed.”

Congratulations to the Drummond-Scott family, and welcome to the world, Sofia Marie! As your mom said, you’re here “just in time for Christmas!”
