Edd was born on May 9, 1971, in London and grew up in Surrey.
He developed a love for cars at an early age and decided to study engineering product design at South Bank University, to learn more about building motors.
During his studies, he invented the Casual Lofa, a sofa which could be driven like a car.
The success of his invention led to him setting up Cummfy Banana Limited, in March 1999, where he would sell his extreme creations.
Until August 2016, Edd also owned an MOT and servicing garage in Bracknell, Berkshire, named Grease Junkie.
Grease Junkie is now his online shop where he sells car parts, as well as other mechanic essentials, plus his own merchandise.
Shooting to fame
Edd is best known for his time on Wheeler Dealers where he worked as a mechanic and host of the show.
He first joined the cast in 2003 and presented 13 series alongside fellow presenter and good friend Mike Brewer.
Edd also has a stunning car collection including his driveable sofa and a 1916 Cadillac.
The TV presenter holds the Guinness World Record titles for the fastest shed, toilet, bed, milk float and the largest motorised shopping trolley.
Leaving Wheeler Dealers
On March 17, 2017, Edd shocked fans when he announced that he would be leaving the programme after 13 years.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, he said that he was leaving due to disagreements over the show’s future.
The presenter claimed that the Velocity channel had found the show “too difficult to make” and had decided that the workshop segment of the show needed to be cut down.
Edd added that he thought the corners he was being asked to cut “eroded” his “integrity” and “compromised the quality” of his work.
Six days later, Edd filmed another video where he explained that his co-star Mike Brewer and his family had been subjected to horrifying online abuse.
According to Edd, the abuse was centred on his decision to leave the show,
Edd was replaced on the show by Ant Anstead in 2018.
As of December 2024, Wheeler Dealers is hosted by Brewer and Marc “Elvis” Priestley.
Edd launched his own series named Garage Revival on YouTube, before expanding his online content into a range of different videos.
