I’m an interiors expert – £5 Dunelm buy gives your bathroom an instant makeover in 60 seconds
IT’S easy to think giving your bathroom a makeover will be costly and time-consuming – but a few small changes can go a long way.
Successful bathroom design is often about the extra details.
Your can make small changes to give your bathroom a makeover[/caption] Plants and new towels can make a huge difference[/caption] Upgrading to a ceramic soap dispenser gives your bathroom a luxe look[/caption]By addressing what can seem like minor matters, it’s possible to transition a bathroom from lacking to luxe.
George Manders, Senior Consultant at homewares brand Haddon, has revealed six simple tips that can lift the look and feel of your loo in less than a minute.
And his 60-second upgrades won’t break the bank either.
Use a ceramic soap dispenser
George says: “Branded plastic bottles will always lower the tone of a bathroom, even when designer brands are in use.
“Investing in an appealing ceramic soap dispenser will add a small touch of sophistication.”
Simple but gorgeous options cost as little as £5 in Dunelm or Asda, making this a very affordable, but effective, switch.
Change lightbulbs
Interiors pro George also revealed that warmer lighting can soften the visual impact of a bathroom which “makes the space more inviting”.
He adds: “This is particularly useful where a white suite and tiling is present, and there are only limited lighting sources.”
Add plants
Greenery always works well in a bathroom.
George says: “It brings life and colour, and many plants – snake plant, Boston fern, peace lily, and tillandsia (air plants) also naturally absorb water from the air, helping to regulate humidity and reducing the likelihood of mould forming.”
Upgrade towels
According to George, floppy and greying towels never create an appealing impression.
“Upgrading to newer towels with a higher thread count will immediately improve the look and feel of a bathroom”, he adds.
Select an upscale bathmat
It’s not just your towels either. The quality of bathmats can impact the entire aesthetic of your space too.
He says: “High thread count and visually appealing bathmats can increase both comfort and interest in a bathroom.”
Coordinate accessories
Finally, George reveals that by using a limited selection of materials within a bathroom, it’s possible to reduce the sense of clutter and encourage a feeling of calm.
He says: “This tactic can be used for accessories as well as bathroom fixtures and fittings.
“By selecting litter bins, caddies, laundry baskets, lavatory brush holders, tissue dispensers, and other accessories made from similar materials and shades, it becomes possible to add cohesion and style to a bathroom.”
