Prosthetic leg stolen from Portland cancer survivor, cash reward offered for info
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland police are asking for the public's help in finding the suspect or suspects responsible for stealing a man's prosthetic leg earlier this month.
The Portland Police Bureau is partnering with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest.
The apparatus is a prosthetic leg with a metal knee joint and running blade.
The leg was stolen on December 8 after a car was broken into near Southwest 11th Avenue and Southwest Columbia Street in downtown Portland, authorities said.
"While this piece of medical equipment is worth approximately $8,000, its true value cannot be measured in dollars as it provides great assistance to a 20-year-old Portland man who lost his leg to bone cancer," Crime Stoppers of Oregon said in a release.
Anyone with information is encouraged to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Oregon.
