Finland’s first hand transplant successfully performed at HUS

HUS Helsinki University Hospital has successfully completed Finland’s first hand transplant. The complex 17-hour procedure was performed in November at Meilahti Bridge Hospital, and the patient is now preparing to leave the hospital. The operation marks a significant milestone in Finnish medical history.

The patient, who had both hands and legs amputated several years ago, received a single hand transplant.
