Rupee down 2% against USD vs 4-6% dip in other EM currencies; volatility shouldn’t worry RBI: Anindya Banerjee
The Indian rupee has dipped about 2% against the US dollar this year, outperforming other emerging market currencies which have fallen 4-6%. Global factors, particularly the uncertainty surrounding Donald Trump's impending presidency and his trade policies, are strengthening the dollar. This, coupled with outflows from Indian equity markets, is pressuring the rupee.
