TOPEKA (KSNT) - Kansas transportation authorities say several new features have been added to the state's road monitoring website to help drivers get to where they need to be.

Cheryl Cadue with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced in a press release on Tuesday, Dec. 17 that its KanDrive website has undergone some overhaul work recently. The website provides drivers with up-to-date information on current road conditions, weather, traffic incidents, crashes and road work on many roads and highways across Kansas. New features include:

  • Display oversized truck locations - U.S. 83 corridor only.
  • Send alerts on high wind, low visibility and ice or snow road conditions.
  • Operate on Amazon Alexa home speakers and the app.
  • Integrate with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
  • Enhance detour information.
  • Improve sharing of details regarding work zones.

Cadue said the updates were made to improve safety and make the website an enhanced travel experience for drivers traveling through Kansas. The website's new interactive navigation features were developed in association with the U.S. 83 Advanced Technology Project with most features being available for use statewide. The U.S. 83 Corridor Project extends from the southern Finney County line to the northern Thomas County line.
