'General Hospital' Cast Exit: Eden McCoy Reacts to Evan Hofer's Sudden Departure, If She's Worried About Josslyn's Future
General Hospital fans were met with another massive cast exit last week after Port Charles police officer Dex Heller (played by Evan Hofer) was killed off.
Now, his on-screen love interest Eden McCoy, who portrays Josslyn Jacks on the daytime soap opera, is speaking out about his departure from the TV show.

Of Evan‘s shocking, sudden exit, Eden told Soap Opera Digest, “I was really shocked when I found out what was going to happen. They just had so many people dying and I really didn’t expect them to pull this one off right now. It was a lot of shock and obviously there was sadness that he and I weren’t going to work together anymore, and grieving for that era and celebrating that together and just sharing great last moments together on and off screen. I mean, I’m super-excited for Evan in the future and what is to come for him and I’m super-proud of him. I think he’s done an amazing job.”
About Evan‘s last day on set, she shared, “But on set his last day, his mom brought cookies and like everybody made sure that he felt super-celebrated and overall, it was obviously a bittersweet day, but I think he had a really good time.”
About if she worried about her character Josslyn’s future upon learning what was happening to Dex, she added, “Not too much, because when I found out about his death, I also found out about everything that was coming [up for the character], which was nice. It was kind of a silver lining, because I could see where we’re going with this, and I think [what the show has planned for Josslyn] is going to be really tough and challenging, but also super-cool and important and a story I will love doing.”
Dex’s death now seemingly sets up a new serial killer on the lose in Port Charles. His passing is eerily similar to the sudden death of Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), who survived a liver transplant only to suffer an unrelated heart attack. Viewers have since learned that Sam’s death was caused by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
New episodes of General Hospital air every week day afternoon on ABC.
