What Exactly Went Down at Jamie Foxx’s Birthday Dinner?
Jamie Foxx was in the middle of celebrating his 57th birthday when things took an ugly turn on Friday night, per TMZ. The actor was out to dinner at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills with his daughters Corinne and Analise and his ex Kristin Grannis, when “someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” a spokesperson told the outlet. Police were called, and Foxx reportedly had to get stitches. The actor is currently recovering, but found time to post an Instagram statement on Sunday, writing, “The devil is busy … but I’m too blessed to be stressed.”
“The devil is a lie,” Foxx captioned the post. “Can’t win here … thank you to everybody that pray and check on me … when your light is shining bright … they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it … the lights have been shining bright …”
As of Monday, however, the details surrounding the alleged altercation are still murky. A witness told TMZ that diners at a nearby table were “being rude and vulgar” to Foxx. When the actor asked the customers to stop bothering his family, one individual responded by throwing the glass at Foxx, the source claimed. But according to the Beverly Hills Police Department, the altercation may not have been one-sided. Though it didn’t name Foxx in its statement, BHPD said the incident “involved a physical altercation between parties.”

“The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery,” the statement continued. “No arrests were made.”
The incident marks the latest in a series of serious health issues for Foxx. Earlier this year, the actor said he was hospitalized in 2023 after he experienced a debilitating headache. In his December Netflix special, What Had Happened Was, Foxx revealed that he had a brain bleed and a stroke and was missing 20 days of his memory. “Huge thank yous to everyone that have watched and been inspired by ‘What Had Happened Was,’” Foxx concluded on Instagram. “Number 1 on @netflix if you haven’t checked it out please go check it out it’s from my heart and my soul …”
