Emmerdale star lands major new role after quitting soap in shock exit

EMMERDALE star Jurell Carter has revealed he’s landed a major new role after quitting the soap.

The actor – who played hunky farmhand Nate Robinson in the ITV soap – made a sudden exit from the show earlier this year after five years.

The Sun exclusively revealed how he quit the role to try his hand at new stage and screen work.

Nate left the village after being brutally beaten by dad Cain over a misunderstanding involving his wife Moira.

He moved to Shetland and has cut his family off completely.

And now it seems that any potential return has been scuppered with actor Jurell signing up to star in a play.

He has joined the cast of Boys from the Blackstuff for the 2025 touring production.

Jurell will play Loggo in the play based on the iconic 1980s BBC series from Alan Bleasdale.

Touring for seven months, the shows begin in January in Richmond and will stop at 20 venues, ending at Theatr Clwyd in July.

Jurell recently opened up about his exit, telling The Sun: “It’s always been in the back of my head.

“My agent was itching for me to go probably a few years ago, but I said to him that it doesn’t feel like the right time, I’m in the right place and I’d know when the time is right.

“It never felt like the right time.”

He added: “But I feel like I’ve reached the point where it’s now or never, in a sense that if I don’t do it now I’ll… not live to regret it, but always be wondering ‘what if?’

“I just didn’t want that feeling.

“I feel like five years is the perfect time for me as an actor to try and move onto something else.”
