12/17/2024: Unseasonably warm today

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:

Awfully warm for December - after overnight rain, we will be mostly dry for the rest of the day. Temperatures will rise to the low or mid 50's along the Hudson River from Albany to the south. Most everyone else is well into the 40's.

Tonight looks cooler, though still mild for this time of year. Expect lows in the low 30's for most with a few in the higher terrain falling into the 20's.

Tomorrow starts off dry, but our next round of active weather arrives in the late afternoon .While we expect mostly rain in the Capital District and the Mid-Hudson Valley, most everyone else will see periods of wintry weather overnight into early Thursday morning.

Up to a half foot of snow could fall in parts of the Adirondacks and Green Mountains. High spots in the Catskills and northern Berkshires may get a couple inches.

Brisk and breezy behind that system, with highs near 40 for Thursday. Even cooler for Friday with a chance for flurries and light snow showers, with minimal accumulation expected.

Winter officially begins Saturday, and it will certainly feel like it - teens that morning and afternoon highs in the upper 20's. Sunday and Monday will feature lows in the single digits! Get ready to bundle up!
