Bargain retailer slashes price of real Christmas trees to just £5
A BARGAIN retailer has slashed the price of real Christmas trees to just £5.
The festive plant can often cost more than its artificial counterpart due to labour costs and higher demands over Christmas.
However, eagle shoppers at B&M spotted a major bargain on the Christmas decorations.
Sharing in a social media post, on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group said: “Real Christmas trees now £5 B&M..pot grown trees half price.”
The discounter has marked down the price of its Norway Spruce, Nordam Fir and Fraser Fir live trees from £20 to £5.
It offers shoppers a saving of £15.
The bargain shop has also reduced the price of its potted Christmas trees by half price.
For example, customers can now pick up a pot grown Nordam Fir real Christmas tree for £12.60 marked down from £25.
If you are keen to check out this discount you will have to make an in-person visit to your nearest B&M.
That’s because the retailer does not offer online shopping.
B&M has over 600 stores across the UK, and you can find your nearest by visiting, www.bmstores.co.uk/stores.
The store’s sale makes it one for the cheapest places to pick up a tree at the moment.
Hardware store B&Q is charging between £20-£40 for their live trees and Homebase is charging between £20-£50.
As Christmas approaches many retailers can slash the prices of their trees to shift any stock that has not sold.
In previous years, shoppers have celebrated nabbing real Christmas trees for just £1 at B&Q and £3.50 at Homebase.
In 2020, B&Q slashed the prices of its £60 Christmas trees to just 10p.
So if you are keen to grab a bargain tree it may be worth checking out your local store closer to Christmas time.
How to save money at B&M
Shoppers have saved hundreds of pounds a year by using B&M’s scanner app.
The scanner lets you see if an item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop floor label.
Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift.
The app is free to download off the B&M Stores mobile app via Google Play or the Apple App Store.
According to one ex-B&M manager, you’ll want to visit your local branch at 10am on a Wednesday too.
This is when staff slash items to as little as 10p to clear excess stock and make way for new products.
Remember you can find your nearest B&M branch by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.
How to save money on Christmas shopping
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.
Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.
Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.
Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.
Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.
Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.
Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.
Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.
They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
