THE stereotype of mothers trying to upstage their son’s brides may not always be true.

But one woman’s behaviour has led people to brand her as an “instant red flag” after she carried out an outfit change in the middle of the dancefloor.

In her viral video, TikTok user Kendall Flink (@kendalllflink_) shared the clip of her new mother-in-law switching up her look.

“It was getting very hot at the wedding,” the bride explained in the caption.

“Mother-in-law needed to cool down after a hot wedding ceremony, so off went the dress.”

The groom’s mother could be seen wearing a white dress with a blue floral pattern as she stood on the dancefloor.

Her dress reached the floor, with a small split that reached up to her knees.

However, the older woman decided to readjust the length to combat the heat.

Another woman crouched beside her and used a pair of scissors to cut the hem of the dress to the same length as the slit.

The mother-of-the-groom turned in a slow circle as her friend completed the action.

Other guests, including members of the bridal party, could be seen watching in the background.

When the dress cutting was complete, the woman did a twirl before jumping up and down in excitement.

She also took the extra fabric from her friend and swung it around as she danced.

While the bride shared the video, appearing unbothered by the antics others were less impressed.

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the woman’s behaviour in the comments section.

“Definitely husband’s mum. This screams jealous mother-in-law,” wrote one viewer.

“That behaviour is such a red flag,” agreed another unimpressed follower.

Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette

If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble.

  • Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
  • Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
  • Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream – even if it’s not.
  • Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
  • Wearing white is a massive no-no if you’re not the bride.

“I feel she had this planned all month,” commented a third person.

“She NEEDED that attention,” pointed out another TikTok user.

“Oh, she wanted ALL eyes on her…” agreed one commenter.

“She looked around to make sure everyone is paying attention to her. I knew it was the mother-in-law,” said another viewer.

“The jumping told me everything,” wrote one follower.
