The song is featured on Chappell‘s Grammy-nominated debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and is a semi-autobiographical song about a woman leaving her small town to become her true self in Los Angeles.
Chappell‘s dad Dwight and mom Kara sang along to the song while it played in the Carpool Karaoke segment.

“That song, I love singing it with her at her shows,” Kara said. “Even when we’re grown up, we really care what our parents think about us. And I hope that’s something that she always knows: that we love her so much and we could never not be proud of her.”
Dwight added, “I hope that that’s something that she always knows, that we love her so much, and we could never not be proud of her. I think about this a lot and try not to get emotional about it… What she has taught me as a father is respect for other people and all people, and that’s what I want people to understand. Everything that is about her is about loving everybody, and she has taught me that.”
“What she stands for is a lot of hope,” he said.
