Japan targets 40-50% power supply from renewable energy by 2040

Japan plans to boost its renewable energy share to 50% by 2040. Nuclear power will provide 20% of electricity. Thermal power, including coal, will decrease to 30-40%. The country seeks to secure long-term LNG contracts. Electricity demand is projected to rise by 12-22%. Japan will submit its finalized net-zero plan to the UN in February.
