Dolphins Share Update After Player's Grave Head Injury

0

The Miami Dolphins' game against the Houston Texans yesterday took a scary turn when Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose was taken down and suffered a critical head injury. Today, the team gave an encouraging update on how DuBose is doing after what looked like a grave season (if not career)-ending hit.

"After sustaining a head injury in yesterday’s game, Grant DuBose remained at a local Houston hospital for evaluation overnight," a Dec. 16 statement from the Dolphins read. "He has movement in all extremities and initial tests have revealed positive results. He remains under the care of doctors for continued observation."

Texans safety Calen Bullock hit DuBose in the third quarter of the game, coming down hard on the Dolphins player's head. Medical personnel immediately began tending to DuBose before wheeling him off the field on a gurney. After he was taken away, players and coaches began praying on the field for their teammate's recovery.

DuBose wasn't the only Dolphins player to suffer an injury during yesterday's game against the Texans. In the second quarter, DuBose's fellow wide receiver Jaylen Waddle suffered a knee injury that took him out of the game. It follows quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's gnarly concussion this season and on-and-off presence in games as a result. Still, he played in yesterday's game against many fans' and observers' wishes. "The professional level, the best of the best, you just can't be doing that," he said, per The Spun. "So, [I've] definitely got to stay more available for the team, for the organization, for our guys."

"I appreciate your concern. I really do," he added. "I love this game. And I love it to the death of me. That’s it."

The Dolphins' next game is against the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 22.
