Toronto’s Max Power Friction bought by Momentum USA

Momentum USA, Inc., through its subsidiary New World Friction, has acquired Max Power Friction, a Toronto-based brake pad manufacturer.

Max Power Friction specializes in medium-duty and heavy-duty brake pads, including air disc brakes. This acquisition brings together the combined capabilities of New World Friction and Max Power, offering customers a comprehensive brake program ranging from Class 1 to Class 8 vehicles, according to a news release.

John Paul Amalfe, CEO and President of Momentum USA, Inc., said in the announcement that Max Power Friction will continue to operate under its existing name, with joint operational and research and development efforts aligned with New World Friction. He further highlighted the strategic advantage of this acquisition, noting that Duncan Huang will join the executive team at New World Friction.

“The coup de grace of this acquisition is having Duncan Huang join our capable executive team at New World Friction,” Amalfe said. “With Duncan’s technical expertise, road-proven and market-accepted brake pads, and his formulation prowess, Duncan catapults our brake companies to world-class status.”
