Over 57,200 passengers allotted alternative accommodation in 2023-24: Railway Minister Vaishnaw

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reported that over 57,200 passengers received alternate accommodations through the VIKALP scheme in 2023-24. The scheme, launched in 2016, aims to optimize accommodation usage and confirm waitlisted passengers. Indian Railways also operated thousands of special trains during festivals and holidays to manage increased passenger traffic and augmented train capacity with additional coaches.
