My 25p hack is basically nature’s ‘Botox’ – it’s perfect for fine lines and wrinkles, and will brighten your skin too
BOTOX and pricey treatments – the first two words to spring to mind when it comes to banishing fine lines and wrinkles.
But according to one thrifty woman, only known as Zareefa, there is no need to fork out a fortune to tackle the first signs of ageing.
Looking to give your skin some TLC without forking out a fortune? One woman explained how a banana could be nature’s ‘Botox’[/caption] According to the dark-haired beauty, she learnt the trick from her mum who would rub the peel onto her skin several times a week[/caption]Taking to TikTok, the dark-haired beauty demonstrated how you can replace costly Botox with a 25p hack – and turns out, the secret to a youthful glow is already sitting in your kitchen.
According to Zareefa, who regularly shares wellness and skincare tips on her page, you should not throw away the banana peel once you’re done eating the superfood.
Raving about the popular lunchbox essential, which costs less than 30p at most supermarkets, Zareefa explained that bananas contain lutein.
Also found in broccoli, spinach, kale, peas, parsley and kiwis, lutein is a naturally occurring antioxidant that can have several benefits for your skin, including UV protection and moisture retention and elasticity in your skin.
Lutein’s antioxidant properties can help protect your skin from free radicals in the environment – and it can be beneficial to eye health too.
By simply rubbing the peel on your skin, Zareefa told her followers that lutein is ”amazing for brightening the skin, fine lines and wrinkles and also for fading hyperpigmentation”.
”Just think of it as preventative Botox,” said the woman, advising to best do this ”as many times as possible throughout the week”.
”You’re going to see a huge difference in the brightening, the hydration and the texture of your skin.
”I remember my mum doing this almost every single day – any time there was a banana, she would make us eat the banana and she would use the peel,” Zareefa told social media users in the video.
Once you’re done rubbing the peel onto your skin, Zareefa advised to keep it on for around ten minutes, before washing it off with warm water.
For best results, the beauty lover explained, you should do this ”consistently”.
”You’re not going to need Botox,” she boldly claimed.
Since being posted on the platform, where Zareefa has won more than 280k followers, the clip has gone viral, amassing a staggering 10million views in just three days.
Thousands of TikTok fans flooded to comments to tag their pals, thank Zareefa for the informative video, as well as share their thoughts.
How is celery juice an anti-ageing potion?
Celery juice is packed with antioxidants like vitamin C and flavonoids, which combat free radicals that cause cellular damage and aging.
Its high water content keeps your skin hydrated and plump, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
The anti-inflammatory compounds in celery, such as apigenin and luteolin, help reduce chronic inflammation linked to ageing.
Rich in essential nutrients like vitamin K and potassium, celery juice supports overall skin health and body functions.
Drinking celery juice regularly can complement a balanced diet and skincare routine, promoting a youthful glow from within.
One chuckled: ”Finally an advice I can literally afford.”
Someone else said: ”The Lord almighty give us everything we need. we don’t need artificial stuff. this is good.”
”I’ve been using this for a long time and it works great!!!” a third was also raving about the purse-friendly skincare hack.
However, not everyone was as impressed with the banana peel tip, as one critic wrote: ”you also need soft life, properly lighting and a good camera.”
