Candace Cameron Bure Reveals How She’s Trying to Break the ‘Bad Rap’ Mothers-In-Laws Get

0

Candace Cameron Bure may be an empty-nester now, with her three kids fully adults, but she’s still full of so much love for them, and their partners! In fact, Bure recently talked about what it’s like to be a mother-in-law, and how she wants MIL to stop getting a bad rap.

In case you don’t know, she’s a mother-in-law, and this happened after her middle child, Lev, married a woman named Elliott! (Lev and Elliot married in Jan 2024 after getting engaged in July 2023.) And now, she wants MILs to not have a bad rap, including her.

“I strive to be a mother-in-love,” she said to Good Morning America. “I very much want to be a complement to my children’s marriages. We always hear, ‘Ugh, the mother-in-law’ and we roll our eyes. Mothers-in-laws get a bad rap — and there’s a lot of bad mother-in-laws out there!”

She added, “I love my daughter-in-law. She’s so wonderful. I don’t want to be pushy or put pressure on anyone. I just want to be here to encourage, support and love. And hopefully, if or when they have kids, to be a great, helpful grandmother.”

For those who don’t know, Candace and her husband, Valeri Bure, married in Jun 1996. Later, they welcomed three children named Natasha, born on May 15, 1998, Lev, born on Feb. 20, 2000, and Maksim “Maks,” born on Jan. 20, 2002.

In a previous interview with Us Weekly about her son’s wedding, she spilled some details.

She jokingly said, “Am I a [mother of the] groomzilla? No, I’m not. I promise you I’m not. I feel like it probably is different to be the mother of a groom than the mother of the bride.”

She added that her role for the big day was “just being available and supportive” if Lev and Elliot needed anything.
