Vindictive: Merrick Garland DOJ Continues Reign of Error: Feds Arrest J6er Who Served ENTIRE SENTENCE

0
Darrell Neely

Guest post by Jenn Baker

Military veteran and MAGA African-American radio broadcaster Darrell Neely – was re-arrested on November 4, 2024. Reportedly, the Merrick Garland DOJ has told January 6 prosecutors to continue with business as usual and prosecute Trump supporters with no change.

But the Garland DOJ is clearly engaged in an angry, vindictive campaign against January 6 Defendants, “big mad” that all their lawfare smears of Donald Trump failed. Instead, Friday’s hearing sailed through and Judge Bates easily and quickly approved Darrell’s release with the able help of public defender Sandra Roland.

Today, December 14, Darrell is being released (again) from the D.C. Gulag, the jail in Washington, D.C. We did not want to report on this earlier because the DOJ kept the allegations of a probation violation under seal. Observers didn’t know what the charges might be except that his public defender said only that they were “technical” and to plan for him to be back in North Carolina shortly.

So we now have confirmation that there were only trivial and insignificant “technical” allegations about his probation. There were no surprises and no big deal. This, too, is a pattern many are seeing with the bitter clingers at the Biden DOJ. While Federal judges usually do not like having their time wasted, prosecutors are “violating” the probation of January 6 defendants on extremely minor issues that would normally be resolved at the probation officer level.

The only clues we had are that Darrell has been unable to pay restitution of $939.93. Like many others, such as John Mellis, even those with impeccable pre-January 6 work credentials have been unable to rent apartments or get jobs with the stigma of January 6 and/or just any criminal record.

However, now Darrell must pay his own way back to North Carolina. He was arrested the day before the presidential election and transported to Durham and then to D.C. His supporters have had to spend hundreds of dollars on phone privileges and commissary. Now, he is being dumped out again on the streets of Washington, D.C. and must pay his own expenses and make his own arrangements to return home.

And the DOJ once again stole all the belongings he had on him – now a second time. He has no phone with him so he must coordinate travel on AMTRAK when he does not know exactly when the jail paperwork will be finished and he will actually walk out the door. The Patriot’s Legal Defense Fund will pay for an Uber but first Darrell needs to know when he is actually processed for release. The Fund is trying to get him yet another phone but needs someone willing to be bothered in Washington, D.C. We have high hopes for the wonderful “Mikki’s House” made available to help January 6ers.

You can read about earlier parts of Darrell’s story, and you can help Darrell’s cause here.

A big part of this, in general, is that Democrats refuse to acknowledge the “new media” of conservative, civilian journalists. Only the liberal dinosaur “regime media” is recognized as “real media” by the DOJ and FBI. Luke Mogelson of The New Yorker was celebrated for his series of articles and podcasts A Reporter’s Footage from Inside the Capitol Siege – The New Yorker. The New Yorker does not normally cover Congress. But Darrell Neely went to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, to report on the events as a radio broadcaster. (Jonathon Moseley inquired of the U.S. Capitol Police, Congressional media association, and the New Yorker if Luke Mogelson had any special access status that Darrell Neely did not have. Silence ensued.)

The Garland DOJ knows Darrell was a very active citizen journalist for years because they found and deleted from the internet Darrell’s hundreds of news reports and broadcasts. They also know that Darrell Neely had two media companies registered and operating years before January 6.

The FBI “Statement of Facts” on September 30, 2021, used to obtain a search warrant says:

The FBI also interviewed three witnesses, Witness 1, Witness 2, and Witness 3, each of whom worked with NEELY at his radio station, Global Enlightenment Radio Network (GERN). Witnesses 1, 2, and 3 were all on two separate calls with NEELY on January 6, 2021.

Therefore, the FBI knew in September 2021 that Darrell Neely was functioning as a journalist. The Statement of Facts further states that:

Witness 1 stated that, on the first video call, NEELY went inside the U.S. Capitol building and narrated events happening inside the building. Although Witness 1 did not see NEELY inside the Capitol building, Witness 1 recognized NEELY’s voice as he narrated from inside the building.

Therefore, if you are from The New Yorker which does not normally cover Congress at all and only barely politics, then you are celebrated for reporting from inside the U.S. Capitol building. But if you are a black, conservative, “new media” journalist, you are prosecuted. Perhaps this is white privilege, perhaps it is Acela Corridor elite privilege, or perhaps it is established media privilege.

Leading up to election day on November 5th, Neely had been working hard on a whirlwind tour of radio interviews in support of Donald Trump’s re-election and exposing the Left’s lies about January 6.

Neely’s arrest came at a time when the Biden Justice Department was ramping up efforts against January 6ers, arresting new “perpetrators,” and rushing trials and sentencing through of many who had been caught in the molasses-like gears of D.C. justice. Biden’s DOJ is continuing to treat even those January 6ers who have served their time punitively.

On October 2, 2024, shortly after Neely started doing hours-long, wall-to-wall radio interviews to rally Black voters and others to vote for Trump, Federal prosecutors in Merrick Garland’s DOJ filed a petition alleging a violation of Neely’s post-prison supervised release. That petition is still under seal, and we have not seen its contents. But we now know that it is frivolous. Neely did not know about it until he was arrested. (His previous attorney, Kira West, has retired since his trial.)

On November 4th, Guilford County police came to Darrell’s run-down hotel to do a “wellness check” of a 23 year old woman. She was visiting Darrell while she talking to her mother. Tiny and her mother had been frantic after being threatened and harassed by a man named Jose in Pennsylvania. In fact, Tiny was in Greensboro looking for housing to relocate from that situation.

“Tiny” confirmed to police that Darrell was helping her stay safe, that he was not the man they were looking for. The police left, without incident. But here is the giant clue: The police did not search the motel room. They did not search Neely’s belongings. The police did not search or take Neely’s mobile phone. Therefore, there was no other reason for the police to be there.

Hours later the police returned and alleged that Darrell gave them an incorrect name. Recall that the Bureau of Prisons had stolen Neely’s identification after releasing him when he had completely served his misdemeanor sentence. Darrell was not able to show ID because Merrick Garland’s operation stole it when arresting him. So we know that that is the official excuse for this. Neither Greensboro Police Department nor Biden’s Dept. of Justice have any basis for believing there was any serious crime at issue.

J6 Political Hostage Darrell Neely Released From Prison After 3 Years Of Incarceration

At the time of his arrest, Darrell was still searching for an apartment that would accept him without work history for the last three years and with legal troubles from January 6th. J6 activists are pleading for any patriotic contacts of fair-minded, reasonable apartment complexes in the Middle District of North Carolina (where he is assigned for probation).

The Patriot’s Legal Defense Fund hopes to pay 6 months upfront of rent on a modestly-priced apartment to overcome landlord hesitations. However, if anyone knows of apartment complex managers or private landlords who are open-minded such contacts are desperately needed. Please email: Contact@JonMoseley.com

*** Darrell has been assigned a public defender but will have a lot of expenses defending these new legal proceedings including having to store his belongings, travel, etc. If you would like to contribute, you may click here.***
