Australia plans to tax digital platforms that don't pay for news

MELBOURNE, Australia: The Australian government said on December 12 that large digital platforms and search engines that don't share their revenue with Australian news media organizations will be taxed.

Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones and Communications Minister Michelle Rowland announced a new tax on tech companies making over AU$250 million (US$160 million) a year from Australia. The tax will start on Januar
