Predicted Tottenham XI to face Southampton – Lucas Bergvall starts
Tottenham Hotspur travel to St Mary’s this weekend in the Premier League as they look to finally put another much-needed three points on the board. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to line up against the Saints.
Predicted Tottenham XI to face Southampton
Goalkeeper – Fraser Forster: Ange Postecoglou looks set to stick with Forster for every single game until Guglielmo Vicario is back. Apart from maybe the FA Cup third round where Brandon Austin may get a chance.
Right-back – Pedro Porro: The Spaniard needs a rest and someone to push him for his starting spot, but Ange seems reluctant to give Djed Spence an opportunity.
Centre-back – Radu Dragusin: With Cristian Romero injured, Spurs will be playing Dragusin almost every single game for the time being.
Centre-back – Archie Gray: Davies and Van de Ven are still out injured so Archie Gray will start his second game in a row in the centre of defence.
Left-back – Destiny Udogie: Udogie is another player who is screaming out for a rest and some competition on the left side, but Spurs are too bare to give him that right now.
Pivot midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: With Bissouma suspended and Bentancur still serving his seven-match domestic ban, Bergvall may be handed a rare chance to impress in his Premier League debut.
Central midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr: Postecoglou needs someone to press from the front and Sarr has the best engine out of anyone apart from maybe Kulusevski.
Central midfielder – Dejan Kulusevski: Maddison misses out in the starting XI and the Swede starts in the main creative role in the middle of the pitch.
Right-midfielder – Brennan Johnson: Back in the starting XI this week after coming off early against Chelsea with an illness. Spurs will need a goal threat at the back post from Brennan. Johnson has ten goals and two assists in 23 games for Spurs this season (TransferMarkt).
Striker – Dominic Solanke: He was handed a rest on Thursday so Solanke should be given the nod to start the match against Southampton.
Left-midfielder – Heung-min Son: This man is in desperate need of a goal and a good performance.
