'General Hospital' Spoilers: Fan-Favorite Character Dies in Shocking Twist!

There was another shocking death on General Hospital!

On Friday (December 13), a new episode of the Emmy award-winning soap opera aired and before the end of it, a fan-favorite character was killed off in a shocking twist.

Keep reading to find out more…Earlier this week, Port Charles police officer Dex Heller, who is played by Evan Hofer, was hospitalized after sustaining a non-life threatening stab wound on the line of duty.

On Thursday (December 12) episode, Dex appeared in good spirits and was expected to make a full recovery. However, during a visit from girlfriend Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and friend Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) in the Friday episode, Dex went into cardiac arrest and died.

In an interview with Soaps.com, the 27-year-old actor, who first joined the show in 2022, opened up about his exit, saying that it was not his idea to leave.

“That’s where the storyline was going,” Evan explained. “With these kinds of things, you never know. I’ve been shot twice. I’ve been in danger plenty… You never really know if this is the time that your character’s luck is going to run out.

“I believe everything works out the way it’s supposed to,” he continued. “I had auditioned for different parts on General Hospital, and it didn’t work out.” When at last he booked a role on the soap, he landed “exactly where I was supposed to be.”

Dex’s death now seemingly sets up a new serial killer on the lose in Port Charles. His passing is eerily similar to the sudden death of Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), who survived a liver transplant only to suffer an unrelated heart attack. Viewers have since learned that Sam’s death was caused by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
