Eimantas Stanionis wants three fights, unification in 2025

Eimantas Stanionis aims to be far more active in 2025, looking for big fights and unification.

Eimantas Stanionis is looking to significantly up his activity in 2025, with the WBA welterweight titleholder hoping to fight three times, and to get unification bouts into the mix.

“I’m ready to make 2025 the biggest year of my career. My goal is to defend my WBA title at least three times and unify with all the other world champions,” he said. “I want to prove I’m the best in the division, and I’m willing to face anyone to make that happen.”

If Stanionis (15-0, 9 KO) can achieve three fights in 2025, it would equal the total number of fights that the 30-year-old Lithuanian has had dating back to August of 2021, when he went to a no-contest against Luis Collazo on FOX.

“Luis Collazo on FOX” should tell you everything you need to know about Stanionis’ “recent” activity. He fought once in 2022, beating Radzhab Butaev, and then got caught up in an unfortunate situation tied to a bout with Vergil Ortiz Jr that never happened in 2023.

This year, Stanionis fought once, dominating Gabriel Maestre in a May 4 title defense.

Stanionis is still linked with Premier Boxing Champions, which may also complicate his efforts to fight three times next year, as PBC simply won’t have that many events, though Stanionis could work on other promoters’ shows, particularly if unification with Matchroom’s Jaron “Boots” Ennis (IBF) or Top Rank’s Brian Norman Jr (WBO) could get done. Mario Barrios holds the WBC title, and could be done in-house with PBC.

Either way, Stanionis says he’s just focusing on himself and doing what he needs to do to stay ready.

“Every day, I’m putting in the work here in Lithuania,” he said. “The cold weather and tough conditions keep me sharp and focused. I’m preparing for a big fight announcement, and when the time comes, I’ll be ready to put on a show for the fans.”

“Becoming a pound-for-pound world champion is my ultimate goal,” Stanionis added. “I’m doing everything possible to make that a reality, from intense training to perfecting my craft. 2025 will be the year I take my place among the best fighters in the world.”

If Stanionis does have something in the works with PBC, his return may take place on the Mar. 1 pay-per-view headlined by Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs Lamont Roach.
