OhioHealth announces new comprehensive cancer center

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- OhioHealth announced it will build an outpatient cancer center for patients receiving care for complicated and aggressive cancers.

The 199,000-square-foot addition is slated to begin construction in spring 2026, with a completion goal of spring of 2029. Its services will include radiation, surgical and medical cancer care and research, specialized cancer clinics, infusion services, labs, diagnostic operations and hematology care, or care involving blood and blood disorders.

The new center will be built where the south parking lot for OhioHealth's administrative campus, across from Riverside Methodist Hospital. Construction will include doubling the size of the existing building, renovations and a new parking garage.

Inside, 30,000 square feet will be leased to Columbus Oncology and Hematology for a medical oncology -- or cancer care -- clinic, infusion and pharmacy. The two health care agencies have collaborated on cancer centers previously in Dublin and Westerville. Praveen Dubey, vice president of cancer care for OhioHealth, said the partnership will allow more comprehensive care for patients in the same building.

"Cancer is scary. With the creation of this facility, we are making care more convenient for our patients and demonstrating that we know their care is combination of clinical care and the experience every time they interact with us," Dubey said.
