Aware Scotland Say Thank You

0

Saturday’s Queen’s Park game was an incredible experience for AWARE Scotland’s young people, combining the thrill of football with unique opportunities to learn, grow, and feel truly included.

Chris Glancey, Founder of Aware Scotland said:AWARE Scotland supports disabled and disadvantaged young people across Glasgow and the surrounding areas, providing them with opportunities to build confidence, make friends, and have experiences they might not otherwise be able to access. For many of our young people going to a game at Hampden was an incredible opportunity.

“We were delighted to receive tickets to the game courtesy of Queen’s Park FC, allowing many of our young people and volunteers to enjoy the win against Airdrieonians. To add to the excitement, each of our team was treated to a wonderful goody bag from Dunn’s Food and Drinks.

“A particular highlight of the day was having two mascots from AWARE leading the team out onto the pitch. Kenzie and Dylan were wearing Queen’s Park kits, which they got to keep as a keepsake. For Kenzie, who has global learning difficulties and is a keen footballer herself, it was a dream come true.”

Kenzie shared: “I loved leading the team out at Hampden. Everyone was cheering, and I felt like a real player!”

In addition to the match itself, Kiera had a unique opportunity to gain work experience with Ian, the matchday photographer. Shadowing a professional, she captured her own shots of the players, crowd, and action, gaining hands-on experience in sports photography.

Kiera said: “It was so cool to be part of the photography team! Ian taught me about camera work and photography, and I feel like I’ve learned skills I can use in the future. It was a brilliant experience!”

Chris added: “Queen’s Park FC went above and beyond to ensure the day was inclusive and fun for all involved. AWARE Scotland is very grateful to Queen’s Park FC, Dunns Food and Drinks, and everyone involved in making this day such a huge success. The memories made on Saturday will stay with our young people for a long time!”
