Patriots’ Jerod Mayo Addresses Bill Belichick’s UNC Hiring
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo was asked a specific question on Friday.
It’s probably one that he didn’t expect when taking the job back in January.
“What is your opinion on Bill Belichick being introduced as the head coach at UNC?”
Belichick, of course, made things official on Thursday, arriving at Kenan Memorial Stadium for his introductory press conference as the school’s next head coach. Mayo probably wasn’t watching, given he has a matchup with the Arizona Cardinals to prepare for, but he did his best to send a positive message.
“I’m happy for him,” Mayo said, per team-provided video. “He’s a good coach. He should be coaching. I’m sure he’s going to do a good job out there. I wish him nothing but the best.”
It’s easy for Mayo and Belichick to play nice when they’re hundreds of miles away, but how will things look when Mayo eventually heads down to Chapel Hill, N.C., to scout a player?
