Washington Spirit Signs Goalkeeper Kaylie Collins to New One-Year Contract

0

Collins joined the club as a national team replacement this past summer

Washington, D.C. (12/13/2024) – The Washington Spirit has signed goalkeeper Kaylie Collins to a new one-year contract for the 2025 season, the club announced today.

“I am so excited to continue my journey here in DC,” said Collins. “The Spirit has created an environment that I know is a place I can continue to grow, alongside a group of players and staff that strive for excellence in everything they do. This is a club that is making an impact in women’s sports at large, as well as the immediate community around it and that’s something I am so proud to be a part of.”

Collins joined the Spirit as a training player in late June before signing on as a national team replacement (NTR) player in July, providing depth at the goalkeeper position in the absence of injured second-year player Lyza Bosselmann. Since turning pro in 2021, Collins has played with the NWSL’s Orlando Pride and Seattle Reign FC as well as Australia’s Western Sydney Wanderers. She attended the University of Southern California from 2016 to 2021, appearing in 66 matches and recording a 0.83 career goals against average with the Trojans. She is originally from Clayton, California.

“Kaylie was a great addition to the 2024 team and made a positive impact on her teammates on the training pitch,” said President of Soccer Operations/General Manager Mark Krikorian. “We are thrilled to keep her with the club in 2025 as part of a great goalkeeper cohort.”

The Spirit will take the field in 2025 looking to build on this year’s second place finish in the NWSL. Behind stellar performances from the side’s star players and rookie phenoms, the Spirit set new single season club marks on the pitch in wins (18, also a league record), points (56) and goals (51) in front of record attendances at Audi Field in 2024.
