Trump considering Military Strike to halt Tehran’s Nuclear Program: WSJ

0

The Wall Street Journal reports that some members of Donald Trump’s team, tasked with analyzing the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, are seriously evaluating options to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, including the possibility of “preemptive airstrikes.”

Military pressure options being considered include deploying more troops, fighter jets, and ships to the Middle East, as well as providing Israel with advanced weaponry like bunker-buster bombs to enhance its capability to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Another option being considered, according to the Wall Street Journal, is a combination of military threats and sanctions to force Tehran into making a diplomatic decision.

According to reports, Trump recently expressed concerns to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the possibility of Iran acquiring a nuclear bomb during his presidency.

The incoming U.S. president, who was recently named Time magazine’s Person of the Year, has not ruled out the possibility of military action against Iran in his discussions with media outlets.

Simultaneously, the Times of Israel reported that Israeli military officials see an opportunity for an attack on Iran’s nuclear sites after the weakening of Iran-backed militias in the Middle East and the fall of Assad’s regime in Syria.

Following Trump’s election victory, speculation about the future U.S. policy toward Iran has increased, with heightened tensions between the two countries threatening regional stability.

The situation has also exacerbated Israel-Iran tensions, particularly with the prospect of military action looming. The broader Middle East could face further instability, especially as concerns grow about Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its role in regional conflicts.
