Shayne Ward reveals how bosses find extras for The Good Ship Murder – if you’re a fan you could appear on the show
SHAYNE Ward has revealed exactly how Channel 5 bosses cast extras for The Good Ship Murder ahead of its return.
The popular murder mystery drama is back for a festive Christmas special and new series with Shayne, 40, reprising his role as Jack Grayling.
Set on a real ship, the crew – who Shayne admitted were struck down with seasickness – involve passengers for filming.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, the former X Factor winner explained: “People come on the ship who recognise the ship and were like, ‘we took a chance to book the same one, hoping that we’ll see the same film’. And then they become part of the show.
“So we basically invite people. What was great this time round was that we had little leaflets around as well with a barcode.
“You just scan the barcode and you put your name down if you want to be an extra.
“So you had so many of the public being waiters, policemen, maybe a thief, dressed up for the Christmas special.”
The TV hunk added: “What I loved is when I met them was I was like, ‘don’t tell anyone that you’ve been in this until they actually watch it and they’ll go, ah’.”
The real-life boat, called MSC Virtuosa, sets sail from Southampton every month.

The Good Ship Murder’s festive episode is set to air on Channel 5 and My5 on Wednesday, December 18th at 9pm.

PLOT
The Good Ship Murder follows former detective Jack Grayling who is living his best life working as an entertainer on a cruise ship.
There he meets First Officer Kate Woods, a woman in a man’s world, with plenty to prove.
Life on the ship is exciting and glamorous but there are jealousies, rivalries and deep divides hidden below the surface.
Things take a turn for the worst when the ship docks at its first port of call, only for a passenger to be found murdered.
This tragedy is followed by more murders and unlikely duo Jack and Kate must join together to solve the mysteries.
