Put under house arrest, prevented from offering congregational prayers: Hurriyat chief Umar Farooq
Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest for the second consecutive Friday, preventing him from leading prayers at Srinagar's Jama Masjid. Farooq criticized the authorities, alleging they were suppressing his voice and the concerns of the Kashmiri people. He condemned his detention and the imprisonment of numerous other Kashmiris.
