New limb-lengthening breakthrough for young children in Finland
Surgeons at Finland’s new children’s hospital have performed their first limb-lengthening surgery on a young child using a new nail extension technique. This marks a significant advancement in treating substantial leg-length discrepancies in young children. Similar surgeries have been performed only a handful of times in Europe.
Leg-length discrepancies and deformities in children and adolescents can result from growth disorders, developmental conditions, or the aftermath of injuries and tumours.
