DARTS WOMEN PROGRESS THROUGH TO SEMI-FINALS OF ISTHMIAN LEAGUE WOMEN’S CUP!

Match Report: Dartford FC 4-0 Ashford Utd Ladies FC.

Isthmian League Women’s Cup Quarter Final, played on Wednesday 11th December 2024.

Team: Jade Charlton, Georgie Davis, Abbey Davies, Lizzie Adams, Shauni Griffiths, Amy Russ, Xayla-Rae Alberts, Beth Powell, Poppy Payne, Emily Vaughan, Emily Woodhouse.

Subs: Brionne Fowle, Gabby Howell, Neve Connor, Ellie Dolby.

The final home game of 2024 was upon us as we welcomed Ashford Utd Ladies to Princes Park in the quarter final of the Isthmian League Women’s Cup.

We began this game brightly and created various good opportunities in the early stages. The best of these chances came in the 16th minute, as a free kick from Abbey Davies was saved superbly by Ashford keeper, Lexi Bishop, onto the crossbar.

The home side continued to create chances and we got the breakthrough in the 23rd minute. A cross from Xayla-Rae Alberts was headed on by Amy Russ inside the 6yd box to Shauni Griffiths, who made no mistake and headed home to put us ahead.

The home side looked to extend the lead before half time and did so 8 minutes before the break. In the 37th minute, Lizzie Adams found Emily Vaughan 25yds from goal and the Darts forward fired home with an emphatic strike to put us 2 ahead at half time.

The third goal of this contest came midway through the second half. In the 63rd minute, a great ball from Beth Powell put Emily Woodhouse through. The Darts midfielder crossed the ball from the right and found Shauni Griffiths, who poked the ball into the empty net for her second goal of the evening.

Darts got goal number four late on to seal our place in the next round. In the 78th minute, Shauni Griffiths beat the offside line to go through on goal and fire home. A hat-trick on the night for the Darts midfielder to cap off a fine performance from the home side!
