Thruway crash victim identified, investigation continues as hit and run

ATHENS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Vermont woman was identified as the victim in a fatal crash on the Thruway near exit 21 in Catskill on Wednesday morning. Sara Llorens, 26, of Burlington, Vt. was found dead at the scene.

On Wednesday around 4 a.m., state police responded to a one-car crash near exit 21. A preliminary investigation revealed that Llorens was driving a 2014 Subaru traveling southbound when her car left the roadway for an unknown reason, struck the median, and rolled over.

Llorens reportedly left the car before it became fully engulfed in flames. She was later found on the northbound shoulder, where she was pronounced dead.

The collision is being investigated as a hit-and-run, troopers said. State Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Catskill State Police at 518-622-8600.
