Bethlehem man charged with child sex abuse image possession
BETHLEHEM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police reported the arrest of a Bethlehem man after a sex crime investigation. Zaid Ijaz, 27, is facing multiple charges.
Ijaz is accused of owning images depicting the sexual exploitation of children. He was taken into custody after law enforcement executed a search warrant at his Bethlehem home on Thursday, which was prompted by a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Ijaz was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child, both of which are felonies. The investigation was conducted by state police, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Bethlehem Police Department.
Following his arraignment at Bethlehem Town Court, Ijaz was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash, $30,000 bond or a $45,000 partially secured bond.
