Ramaswamy praises Colorado governor for buzz-sawing regulations

0

Vivek Ramaswamy, the co-head of the newly created "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE), commended Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) for shredding 208 executive orders after repealing them Thursday.

"Nice work, @GovofCO. Send that shredder over to DOGE next month," Ramaswamy wrote in a Thursday post on the social platform X, responding to pictures of Polis destroying documents.

Ramaswamy's new role will aim to reduce wasteful spending and slash ineffective measures for the federal government. He, alongside Elon Musk, will likely identify old laws that need to be repealed and outdated regulations that impact the American people.

However, in Polis's case, the papers used for orders dating back to 1920 will be recycled and used for a state art project.

“This isn’t the end of the road for the 208 executive orders I am rescinding today,” Polis said in a statement on X.

“The paper they were printed on will be recycled and turned into a beautiful collage reflecting Colorado’s iconic landscape, made by the talented Colorado artist Joe Molina, which I will display in the Governor's office to remind visitors of the ongoing need to cut waste and make government more efficient.”

Recently, DOGE has intrigued the some on the progressive left who favor an economics-first approach to politics. This piqued interest on reducing excessive government spending has shown an overlap between parts of the left and right, which could lead to unlikely alliances in the new Trump era.
