Caught on Camera: 5-foot Grinch statue stolen from Vancouver Hobby Lobby

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Vancouver Police Department said they're looking for a woman who allegedly stole a 5-foot tall Grinch statue worth hundreds of dollars from Vancouver Mall.

"The Grinch is on the loose in Vancouver, and we need your help to identify her," Vancouver PD said in a post on X. "This suspect walked into a retail store and stole a large Grinch Nutcracker valued at $400."

Police said it happened in the Hobby Lobby store inside the mall. The statue in question featured the famous Dr. Suess character, The Grinch, wearing a Santa hat and holding a wreath.

"The item was rather expensive and so, you know, that theft from retail just affects every one of us because retailers have to continue to replace items, they have losses. And those sometimes will trickle down to the shoppers," said Kim Kapp, a Vancouver police spokesperson. "And so, hopefully, we can catch this person and maybe curb some people who think they can get away with it."
