'Prison Break' Reboot Update: Hulu Orders Pilot Episode, Details Revealed

A Prison Break reboot is one step closer to a reality.

On Thursday (December 12), it was revealed that Hulu was proceeding with a pilot for a fresh take on the classic TV series, which aired for five seasons between 2005 and 2017.

Deadline broke the news on the pilot plans. The show will be managed by Elgin James and 20th Television.

The outlet reported that original series stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell were not expected to be involved in the show. Instead, the new series is being described as being “its own thing set within the same universe.”

Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we’ll update you as we learn more.

We first heard that a Prison Break reboot was in the works back in November 2023.

The original series followed Michael Scofield (Miller), who makes it his mission to prove that his convicted brother Lincoln Burrows (Purcell) is innocent, hatching a plan to save him from death row and escape him from prison.
