Micky van de Ven’s Spurs injury timeline revealed by club insider
Micky van de Ven faces a new injury setback amid Tottenham Hotspur’s defensive struggles, with fresh reports suggesting he could be sidelined for weeks.
Tottenham Hotspur’s mounting injury concerns
Tottenham Hotspur are grappling with an injury crisis that shows no signs of abating, with the latest setback involving Dutch centre-back Micky van de Ven.
A critical figure in Ange Postecoglou’s defensive setup, van de Ven had recently made a return from a prior injury, bringing much-needed solidity to a side under significant pressure in recent weeks. However, his availability now hangs in the balance once again.
The 23-year-old appeared to sustain an issue during Tottenham’s recent clash against Chelsea, where an initially perceived case of fatigue has reportedly turned out to be far more serious.
Tottenham’s supporters had hoped the defender would merely need a short period of rest to recover, yet whispers from within the club have painted a graver picture.
Micky van de Ven’s new injury: what we know
Fresh reports indicate that Micky van de Ven could face another extended spell on the sidelines, potentially missing two to three weeks of action.
This development emerged from a post on X (formerly Twitter) by journalist Paul O Keefe, who provided an update in response to a fan query.
When asked, “Anyone know what’s going on with Micky??”, O Keefe replied: “Waiting to confirm a definite timeline but hearing a reoccurrence of injury and maybe 2-3 weeks.”
Ange Postecoglou hints at tactical creativity amidst Tottenham’s defensive woes
In light of these persistent injury challenges, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has hinted that unconventional solutions may be required to cope with the ongoing crisis.
Speaking at a recent press conference, the Australian tactician addressed the team’s defensive conundrum: “Yeah (laughs), I have to get creative. I think Archie’s probably the one for us at the moment that we need to try and get to fill in there.
“He’s done right back, left back for us. Had to play at centre-back a little bit this year, he did during the pre-season. With him and Radu, they’re the two main sort of defenders.
“We’ve still got five or six games to navigate, so we may have to get creative at some point and deal with it in a different way.”
