The royalist – who attended his first state banquet at Buckingham Palace last week alongside his wife Victoria – had been complaining about his untidy office when he revealed a sneak peek of the special photograph.

David said: “I know it’s early morning, I’ve literally just walked into the office.

“Normally my office is actually quite tidy, something has gone on during the night.”

The famous footballer then showed Elf on the Shelf had taken over his working space.

David joked: “I mean, really?

“Mess on the floor, it’s definitely Christmas in the office.”

Fans were shocked by David’s definition of “untidiness” – with one saying: “I wish this was my definition of ‘mess’.”

He previously opened up about his battle with OCD and obsessive tendencies in his hit Netflix documentary last year.

The former England captain admitted his clothes have to be immaculately folded and what he’s wearing is laid out a week in advance.

Becks said in the documentary: “Yeah, I’m quite organised.”

He then visibly recoils after opening his trousers drawer and noticing the hangers are fractionally askew. He declares: “Someone’s been in here.”

David added: “I have got this obsessive compulsive disorder where I have to have everything in a straight line or everything has to be in pairs.”
