Mohammed Shami to not travel to Australia anytime soon? Report gives MASSIVE update
Indian pacer Mohammed Shami looked to have finally put his injury woes behind and was ready to feature for the Men in Blue in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series. However, his fitness concerns have led the BCCI to not fly him to Australia anytime soon.
Following the Adelaide Test, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was asked about Shami’s condition in a press-conference. The 37-year-old suggested that the pacer is dealing with a swollen knee problem as he prepares to regain match fitness in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Bengal.
A report in the Indian Express claimed that Shami has undergone a fresh fitness test which indicates that the pacer isn’t yet ready for 5-day cricket. However, Shami will feature for Bengal’s quarter-final clash against Baroda where he fitness will once again be put to test.
There are doubts as to whether the veteran pacer can bowl long spells in red-ball cricket, considering he has faced knee issues even as he is bowling 4 overs for Bengal.
Since making his comeback to competitive cricket, Shami has so far participated in 1 Ranji Trophy match and in each of Bengal’s 7 matches in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
