Ex-India star points out MAJOR weakness in Virat Kohli’s technique ahead of Brisbane Test

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif pointed out a massive weakness in star batter Virat Kohli’s technique and also urged the Men in Blue to take inspiration from the way Australia targeted the 36-year-old during the Adelaide Test. Even a player like Scott Boland, who isn’t a regular in the Australian team, targeted Kohli’s weakness by bowling outside off-stump.

“Virat Kohli ki kamzori log pakad ke rakhe huye hai. Off-stump ke bahar ball dalo, wahan out honge (People know Virat Kohli’s weakness and hold on to it. Bowl outside the off-stump, he’ll get out there),” said Kaif in a video posted on his own X account.

“Someone like Scott Boland plays only two or three Tests in a year, but even he knows exactly where you need to bowl to Kohli. You know that Kohli will mess up around the off stump and send a catch to the wicket-keeper or slip cordon” Kaif added.

The former batter also questioned why the Indian bowlers can’t target Australia batter Travis Head’s weakness by bowling balls outside the off-stump.

“So why can’t the Indian bowlers target Travis Head’s weakness consistently with proper planning? Why can’t we pinpoint Head’s weakness and keep bowling outside the off-stump or target him with short balls? Every batter has weaknesses, why can’t we plan properly against Travis Head and trap him?” Kaif further said.

While Head was the star performer during the Adelaide Test and played a brilliant knock of 140 to carry Australia to a great total, Kohli on the other hand, failed to deliver and was only able to score a total of 18 runs in the pink-ball Test. The India batter will definitely be looking to regain his form in the upcoming Test at the Gabba.
