The Syracuse Mets sold, but will stay in Syracuse
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Diamond Baseball Holdings announced on Tuesday, Dec. 10, that it entered into an agreement with Cohen Private Ventures to purchase the Syracuse Mets.
The Mets will still remain the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets going forward. The club will also retain its front office staff and will keep being led by Jason Smorol as general manager, the team said.
Diamond Baseball Holdings also purchased the Brooklyn Cyclones, the New York Mets' High-A affiliate, in this deal. The Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the New York Mets' Double-A affiliate, was sold to Diamond Baseball Holdings back in April.
Diamond Baseball Holdings owns numerous other minor league baseball teams across the country.
