PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The Springfield Police Department is giving their 'howl of approval' to one of their K9 units for a significant drug bust this week.
Officers said their K9 Cash and his partner seized a pound of powdered fentanyl before it could reach the streets, after finding it concealed in a children's toy.
As little as 10 milligrams is considered a lethal dose, according to the DEA.
Additionally, the estimated street value of the seized powdered fentanyl was nearly $50,000.
In a post on social media, SPD acknowledged K9 Cash, his partner and the entire police department, who "work tirelessly to prevent the distribution of these dangerous substances within our community."
