Tottenham have an advantage over Marseille in race for midfielder

0

Tottenham Hotspur have been installed as one of the favourites to sign one Serie A star, who is thought to be surplus to requirements at his club.

Tottenham ready to move for Italy international

If you have followed Spurs Web’s coverage, you would know that over the last couple of days, there have been plenty of reports talking up Tottenham‘s chance of signing Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli.

It was first reported by TuttoJuve on Tuesday that the Lilywhites and Marseille are circling around the player, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Old Lady.

Then on Wednesday, GiveMeSport revealed that Spurs had been informed about the 23-year-old’s availability and that intermediaries were ready to ‘up the ante’ to find the player a new club.

Tottenham have an advantage in the race

Tuttosport have now also reported on Tottenham and Marseille’s interest in Fagioli, and they have talked up the Lilywhites’ chances of landing the player.

They revealed that the Bianconeri would be willing to let their academy graduate leave for around €25m (£20.7m) in January as he is now considered surplus to requirements for Thiago Motta.

It is explained that Marseille do not have the funds to meet the Serie A club’s asking price, thus potentially handing Spurs a big advantage in the race.

Tottenham have a longstanding interest in Fagioli

TuttoSport further explains that this is not the first time Spurs have shown interest in the Italy international.

It is revealed that the Premier League side explored a move for Fagioli in the past, only to be informed that he is not for sale as Juve considered him ‘untransferable’ at the time.

However, the publication adds that it could be second time lucky for Spurs as they ‘return to the flame’ for the midfielder in January.
