Bruins Lineup Experiments To Continue Despite Strong Stretch
BOSTON — The Bruins aren’t getting complacent, as they’ll continue to shake things up despite coming on strong as of late.
Brad Marchand, Elias Lindholm and David Pastrnak will skate together during Saturday’s matchup with the Philadelphia Flyers, marking the second consecutive game in which they’ll see significant action together. Boston received a spark by putting them together against the Chicago Blackhawks, so it’ll make things slightly more permanent by sliding Morgan Geekie and Pavel Zacha down to the second line with Justin Brazeau.
The B’s have won six of their last eight, but know staying stagnant isn’t necessarily an option.
“We’ve made changes in the past, where we’ve won, and we’ve taken players out and swapped out a different player in,” Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco said on Saturday. “It’s not necessarily just based on winning. It’s based on performance, teams we’re playing, if we liked what we saw even though the result wasn’t what we wanted.”
Sacco isn’t afraid to make changes, but he hasn’t really made them anywhere other than the top two lines.
Trent Frederic and Charlie Coyle have settled back in together on the third line, while Mark Kastelic continues to earn his ice time alongside those two. Cole Koepke and John Beecher have been staples on the fourth line, with youngster Marc McLaughlin returning to the show as a pretty decent fit alongside them.
Marchand, Pastrnak and Lindholm aren’t exactly “The Perfection Line” just yet, but it does seem like a group that could settle in together for the long haul. It’s up to the guys playing behind them to carry their weight, however.
If not, expect more shuffling moving forward.
