I want to sit on my couch in my underwear and my wife won’t let me
DEAR DEIDRE: MY wife won’t let me sit on the new couch in my pants. I don’t feel my home is my own any more.
I’m 60, she’s 54. I work hard all day wearing a tight, uncomfortable uniform, so my way of relaxing is to chill on the sofa in my undies.
She never seemed to mind on our old settee. Since we got the new one, she has enforced a “No trousers, no couch” regime.
If she’s not yelling at me to put a dressing-gown on, she’s shoving towels down before my bum touches the seat.
I’ve even caught her attacking my “spot” with anti-bacterial spray.
What’s a man to do?
New furniture often makes us look at our existing pieces with a critical eye, and it appears your derriere no longer fits the decor.
DEIDRE SAYS: The bad news is that sofas are expensive so I don’t see your wife’s regime changing any time soon.
The good news is she won’t want to fall out with you over it, because she will never want you to sleep there.
Buy some loungewear and snuggle in (covered-up) comfort.
