Storm Darragh lashed Britain and Ireland with fierce winds and heavy rain, leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Gusts reached 93 mph, prompting a rare emergency alert to 3 million phones in Wales and southwest England. Travel disruptions were widespread, with road and bridge closures and train service suspensions. Nearly 400,000 customers in Ireland also lost power.
